On-line Application
Important Online Usage Information: Be sure to utilize the Help section, the link is located at the top right hand corner of your account.

1. Your Library and Templates are key to increasing the speed and accuracy of your inspection reports. You are given Libraries and Templates to start you off with the ability to create inspection reports immediately. However it is crucial that you spend the time to customize your Library area. The Components section in the Library is for Future development, please do not use - or you will have some problems. Components are not supported.

This means utilizing the library or libraries you choose to use, by customizing it as you need. Do you wish to have a very long detailed report, or a shorter detailed report. There will be many additions that you will make to your library in the first few months as you inspect.

New accounts as of 7-01-08 are supplied with two libraries. Classic - everything you need to create a thorough report.

A. Choose your main library or libraries which you wish to utilize. Its best if you do not make any copies of sections in the library with the purpose to create multiple sections of the same section, this should be done in the template area. For example if you created 2, 3 or 4 bathroom sections in your library, then anytime you added new data to the library from your inspection, it would only add the data into that one bathroom, not all 2, 3 or 4 bathrooms sections. This is why duplication of sections or items is best done in the templates. When sections are duplicated in the Templates, anytime you add new data for that section, all the bathrooms would be updated with the new data because they all pull the same data from the one bathroom section in the library.

B. Look at the data which is already entered in the Library, for the Sections, and Items. If there are entries that are not applicable to your area, then delete them. Add information that is applicable to your area.

C. Go to the Template area for your Library, and sort the order of the Sections, and Items. Sort them in the order you wish them to appear in every report, the order should coincide with your inspection flow. You can copy Sections and Items, any copied Section or Item can be easily be re-named in the inspection itself, but not in the Template area. Also it is faster to delete any un-needed Section or Item in a report, than to add one in.

D. Once you have set up your Library to your liking, download a copy to your computer. This way you have your own back up.

Remember you can make your inspection report as long, or as short as you want. Spending time up front with your Library and Templates can save you many hours a week on your inspection report time. The choice is yours, the customization capacity is in the application.

  • Components section in the Library is for Future development, please do not use - or you will have some problems.
  • Never copy and paste any text from a Microsoft Word document, or from the internet into the application, it can cause problems.
  • If you add an apostrophe (') into any photo text box it will cause the addition of \\ characters in the report.
  • Very long e-mail addresses interfere with the property information layout on page 2 the report in a PDF generated report.  If you have a long e-mail address, the easy fix is to set up a free e-mail account with google, just to use for your reports. www.gmail.com
  • You should never delete a Library, a Section, or an Item, from your Library section, which was used in an inspection report. Think of the application as your own personal data base, if you delete the data, then it will no longer be available to show up in the inspection report.
  • It is good practice to always archive your reports once you are finished with them, after any re-inspection of the property if required.
  • Although the servers do back up the data several two timesa day, it is always a good idea to make a PDF copy of the finished inspection report and save it on your hard drive, or to a CD. This way you always have a copy on hand, just is case, you know - to cover Murphy's law.
  • Do not use the # character in the inspection number, (example #412) it will prevent a PDF report from being generated. In general it is best to stay away from as much character usage as possible, there has been inconsistent reporting's by users, of problems such as duplication of characters, (example //////) Characters such as a period. a comma, and a dash - are perfectly fine. You may try additional characters and see how they work for you, this issue appears to be inconsistent.
Online Application Known Issues
1. Adding a Section into an open inspection: When a Section is added, the order in which the Items are displayed, does not coincide with the template's order. Although the order of the Items will not effect the findings in the report, it can annoy some. To prevent this, it is better to have more Sections checked in your template, and then just delete the Section or Sections that you do not utilize. Or if you do add a section into the report, the order of the Items can be changed by the up and down buttons at the right side of each Item.
PDA Application
Important PDA Usage Information :

1. If you have one or more inspections loaded onto your PDA utilizing the same library - then do not add the same section into an inspection from the PDA. For example, you are doing an inspection and you add the section Heat Pump into an inspection from the PDA, and then on your second inspection, you again add the section Heat Pump into that second inspection from the PDA - well what will happen the added sections will cancel each other out, and actually erase all the Items, Comments, and Issues in your online library for that Section. So please never do that.
2. It is crucial that you make selections in the Info Tab area on the PDA, if you do not make selections then those unselected Option drop down menu(s) will not sync over.

PDA software improvements to be made: TBD
